Bihar Election Results 2025 LIVE Updates: Comeback For NDA? Ruling Bloc Crosses 150 Seats In Initial Trends
Election Results 2025 LIVE Updates: The BJP crossed the 50-mark, leading in 77 seats.
Counting of votes for the crucial Bihar assembly elections began at 8am on Friday, with initial trends indicating the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is ahead in several seats.
Voting trends at 09.30am showed the NDA leading in 152 seats and the Mahagathbandhan in 117. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also crossed the 50-mark, leading in 77 seats. The postal ballots are being counted currently.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, who is the chief ministerial candidate of the Mahagathbandhan, is leading in Raghopur assembly. Singer Maithili Thakur, who is making her poll debut on a BJP ticket, is leading in Alinagar.
The results for polling in all 243 assembly seats will decide whether Janata Dal (United) chief Nitish Kumar – the state’s longest-serving chief minister – will secure a record fifth term or whether a change in government will be witnessed.
The state registered a historic voter turnout of 67.13% in the two-phase elections to the 243-member assembly that was held on November 6 and 11.
Most exit polls have predicted a clean sweep for the NDA, of which the JD(U) is a part. Tejashwi Yadav has dismissed the predictions and claimed the Mahagathbandhan would form the government with a thumping majority.
Besides Tejashwi Yadav, prominent candidates of both alliances include Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD)’s Tej Pratap and Bihar Congress president Rajesh Kumar.
